Sharing the best of the internet to save you time and energy
Hello Beloved!
Here is a curated list of everything I’ve found interesting this week. Feel free to forward this to a friend if you feel so inclined. As always I hope you have an amazing weekend and enjoy!
YouTube Video I’m Watching:
Bliss Foster tells the stories behind designer brands and he makes another absolute banger with this deep dive into Prada.
“By examining the strange intersection of fashion and fascism, we gain a deeper understanding of the power of artistic expression to challenge and provoke thought through the medium of art that is fashion.”
His brutally honest and hilarious delivery really brings the story to life. High Fashion is a secret obsession of mine so I eat this content up. He has other great videos so even if you have a smidge of interest in fashion I highly recommend his channel.
Podcast Episode I’m Listening To:
Will.i.am is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He’s best known as the founder and lead member of the hip-hop musical group Black Eyed Peas. This conversation on the Diary of a CEO Podcast was very insightful. They touched on many points like Depression and Creativity, my favorite point being the relationship between failure and creativity.
“First you must get it out and help yourself understand the world. Once you notice that the release is therapeutic and helps you, you can be strategic and try to help others.”
Host Steven Bartlett is an absolute master at interviewing and this episode is a pleasure to listen to.
Music I’m Listening To:
Bigger then Everything is the latest track from rap star Yeat. The beat produced by Bnyx is haunting and energizing all at the same time. Complete with Yeat’s signature bell hit this track is just another banger added to the discography. While Yeat is not the best lyricist in the rap game, you can tell his writing has come a long way from the nonsensical gibberish bars he used to spit.
Book I’m Reading:
Big thanks to my friend AJ for recommending this book.
The story of Steve Jobs was a bittersweet one for me to read. There’s no real way around the fact that Steve Jobs was a huge asshole. He was also an absolute genius. I think his simple genius can be summed up nicely by my favorite quote from the book:
“We’re trying to get back to the basics of Great Products, Great Marketing, and Great Distribution”
The concept of doing the basics really well went on to create some of my favorite products of all time. The iPod, the iPhone, and the iMac. The effect he and the team at Apple and Pixar have had on the world is shocking when put into full view and it is all captured in this wonderfully written book by Walter Isaacson. The audiobook is really good if you’re into that. 8.7/10
